What to wear on a city break

What should you pack for a city break?

With the current weather situation being super confusing, a lot of us are booking last minute holidays or city breaks. Whether this is with the girls, the BF or the parents, we NEED a break!

I feel the hardest part of planning a city break is knowing what to put in my case, comfy, but stylish pieces, that I can mix and match into a wearable (but compact) wardrobe! A little bit of everything usually works for me, from a cute skater skirt, to comfy pants and ALWAYS an emergency pair of tights. So here’s my top pieces I brought with me on my 5 day break to visit family and friends…

Day 1. The Journey – Firstly this outfit must be comfortable yet stylish! You don’t know what lies ahead, you could bump in to a celebrity at the airport, an old friend (or flame) or you could be so unfortunate that your flight is delayed! I wore these skinny trousers by Roman Original because they are so much more comfortable than skinny jeans, or any jeans for that matter, but they are also super flattering. I teamed the trousers with this cute Alice & You rose print blouse which ties up at the neck. A neck tie blouse is really on trend right now so I thought why not? Especially considering it’s in the Stylistpick Summer sale. Then I threw on my sliders (who doesn’t love a slider?) and I was off!

Day 2. Date Night with Bae – When visiting family and friends this is the first thing I like to do (get out of the way!) and on this trip there was a boat festival happening, so we went on a romantic stroll by the quay. There were loads of food stands, souvenirs stalls and cute jazz bands. I wore my AX Paris culotte jumpsuit because it is easily worn casual but when dressed with heels I felt like a princess. The culotte shape really made my legs look longer and enhanced my waist. My Stylistpick Reagan heels were a must, as the block heel makes them so easy to walk in. You can grab them now for only £10! A silver cuff bracelet tied the colours of the jumpsuit together making, me glam enough to go for food and cocktails with bae <3 This is by far one of my favourite outfits in my wardrobe.

Day 3. Night Out With The Girls – When I go away, it is very high on my list to have a girls night out with my friends. This time was even better because my sister flew from New York to join us, YAY! I am very matchy matchy and love colours to coordinate, so I planned a monochrome look. I wore this Alice & You bell sleeve dress which was another super flattering piece. I wore this with Stylistpick fringed heels, not only are they pretty, but they are easy to walk in, and dance! This Alice & You clutch bag was also handy, there is never not a time that a black clutch bag goes out of fashion. The girls loved my outfit <3

Day 4. Acting The Tourist – We knew there were so many sights to see on this break, so we chose only a few to go to, none of which were museums, art galleries or historical landmarks. We chose an award winning wine tasting bar, a restaurant built under a bridge and a mega cute beach. Basically, we didn’t go to be a tourist! I wore wedges, as they are SO comfortable and they looked fab on! I wore them with Alice & You’s pin stripe trousers and Sugarhill Boutique’s feather print blouse. Now I know this whole pattern clashing thing isn’t for everyone, but don’t knock it until you try it! These two patterns worked together because of the subtle pinstripe, they would look great with a floral cami.

Day 5. Dinner and drinks with family – My whole family from my granny to my 6month old neice, LOVE to get dressed up! We booked a table in a posh-nosh restaurant for the last hoo-rah before we all went back to our normal lives. It wasn’t until now that I realise how many monochrome outfits I own. I wore the ultimate flattering princess skirt by Blue Vanilla, along with their off the shoulder bodysuit. Bodysuits are so versatile and trendy. I wore my Stylistpick caged heels and minimalist Ruby Rocks bracelet to complete my outfit. I think it’s safe to say, if there was a best dressed award that night, i would have it in the bag!
